GNC Live Well to Donate Funds to Red Cross

No. 36 Team Sponsor Will Give $25 For Each Lap Completed On Saturday

PITTSBURGH (Sept. 18) - GNC Live Well (General Nutrition Centers) announced today it will donate funds to the American Red Cross for every lap driver Hank Parker Jr. completes in Saturday's NASCAR Busch Series (NBS) race at Dover Downs International Speedway.

GNC has pledged a $25 donation for each lap Parker and his No. 36 GNC Live Well Chevrolet make during the 200-lap MBNA.com 200. If Parker finishes the event on the lead lap, GNC Live Well will donate $5,000 to the Red Cross.

"This is just one way GNC is honoring families touched by the tragic events of Sept. 11 and the workers assisting in the search, rescue and recovery operations," said Jennifer Brinker, vice president of advertising for Pittsburgh-based GNC Live Well.

"We've heard a number of Winston Cup teams and drivers are donating funds based on how many laps they complete in Sunday's race, and we wanted to be involved," Brinker continued. "We encourage other teams' sponsors in both the Busch and Winston Cup Series to pledge the same amount for every lap their teams complete."

Dr. Pepper, sponsor of the No. 26 Carroll Racing Chevrolet driven by Bobby Hamilton Jr. in the NBS, and Kimberly-Clark, whose Kleenex Brand sponsors the No. 7 of Randy LaJoie, have already agreed to match GNC's offer, pledging $25 for each lap their teams complete in Saturday' event.

In addition to the monetary pledge, GNC Live Well has also donated nutrition and energy bars and bottled water to rescue workers in the New York City and Washington, D.C. area.
