Gasoline Alley Engines Teams Up With Welliver Racing
CONCORD, N.C. (August 31, 2001)--Scott Welliver, President of Welliver
Racing and Wayne Jesel, President of Gasoline Alley Engines announced today
that Gasoline Alley Engines LLC has teamed up with Welliver Racing, doing
business as Welliver-Jesel Motorsports. The Company will be managed on a
day-to-day basis by Wayne Jesel.
"Having Wayne and his partners become a part of this organization is a great
asset to our program," said Scott Welliver. "We will be able to fully
integrate the research and development engine program at Jesel Valvetrain
Innovation creating the only NASCAR Busch Series team not affiliated with a
NASCAR Winston Cup operation to be running its own engine program."
"With nine Busch races remaining, our number one priority is to concentrate
on the performance of all three race teams," said Wayne Jesel. "Our
strategic plan is to work closely with our marketing partners to move our
association to the next level while delivering a competitive team effort to
win races and championships."
Welliver-Jesel Motorsports also announced that Gary Cogswell has joined
Welliver-Jesel Motorsports and will be the crew chief for the #36 GNC Live
Well Chevrolet Monte Carlo driven by Hank Parker, Jr. starting with the
South Carolina 200 NASCAR Busch race at Darlington. Gary delivers over ten
years of experience and has two 2001 Busch wins with Todd Bodine driving for
Buckshot Racing.
Welliver Racing is the second oldest team in the NASCAR Busch Series. The
team has 19 wins in 17 years of competition and at least one top-five finish
in the points championship in each of the last six seasons. It campaigns
Chevrolet Monte Carlos with primary marketing partners AFG Industries, Inc.
& J.B. Williams Company, Inc. (Aqua Velva) for David Green, General
Nutritional Centers (GNC Live Well) for Hank Parker, Jr., and the Phillips
66 Company for Geoffrey Bodine.
