Busch Series to Join Pepsi 400 Weekend in 2002
DAYTONA BEACH, Fla., (Aug. 13, 2001) – The NASCAR Busch Series, Grand
National Division kicks off its season in February with a 300-mile race
during Speedweeks at Daytona International Speedway, the circuit’s
richest and most prestigious event.
In 2002, the Busch Series will make a second stop at the “World Center
of Racing” serving as a companion event to the 44th annual Pepsi 400 on
July 6. The 250-mile, 100-lap race will be held on Friday, July 5 and
will share the night with the final Winston Cup Series practice session
nicknamed “Happy Hour.”
“Having the Busch Series race is a great addition to the Pepsi 400
weekend,” Speedway President John Graham said. “The combination of the
Winston Cup Series and the Busch Series in July at Daytona gives us an
event schedule second only to Speedweeks in February.”
