Verizon Wirless Announces Sponsorship Deal

GREENVILLE, S.C. - Verizon Wireless, formerly Bell Atlantic Mobile, announced today its sponsorship of Jason Jarrett and Jarrett/Farve Motorsports. As a corporate partner, Verizon Wireless is now the official communications provider for the NASCAR Busch Series, Grand National Division team, owned by defending Winston Cup champion Dale Jarrett, NASCAR legend Ned Jarrett, and Green Bay Packers' quarterback Brett Farve.

"Verizon Wireless is very excited about its sponsorship of Jason Jarrett and Jarrett/Farve Motorsports," said Jerry Fountain, Verizon Wireless' regional president - Carolinas. "We're proud to be associated with the Jarrett family, one of America's legendary racing dynasties."

Jason Jarrett, 24-year-old son of Dale Jarrett and grandson of Ned Jarrett, is racing the #11 Verizon Wireless Pontiac that is also sponsored by Rayovac Maximum batteries. This is Jarrett's first full season of Busch Series competition and marks his return to Jarrett/Farve Motorsports following 23 starts in partial seasons since 1997.

"On the track or off, communication is key to performing ahead of the competition, especially with a young, aggressive team like Jarrett/Farve Motorsports," said Jarrett. "We are looking to take the quality foundation that we have developed and make our mark on the fastest growing sport in the world. With high-tech sponsors like Verizon Wireless, I think we are well on our way."

The Busch Series has established itself as NASCAR's "Proving Ground" for future motorsports stars, like Jarrett who finished 17th in the season opener in Daytona amid a field packed with Winston Cup veterans.
