Team Amick Motorsports Restructures for 2001, Pearson Stepping Down

Mooresville, NC (December 22) -- Team Amick Motorsports announced today that Ricky Pearson is leaving the team this week after serving one year as crew chief, during a time when the No. 35 Busch Series Grand National Division car, driven by Lyndon Amick, has struggled to find its footing on the race track.

Fred West, spokesman for Team Amick Motorsports, said Pearson is leaving to pursue other opportunities. “Bill Amick, our team owner, has a great deal of respect for the Pearson family name and for Ricky Pearson personally,” West said. “Mr. Amick and Mr.. Pearson just agreed that it was time for both parties to make a change.. I think it’s fair to say we are parting company as friends, with a spirit of mutual respect.”

West said the team is in the process of rebuilding for the 2001 season. “The truth is, we had a disappointing year in 2000, but we are a young team with tremendous potential,” West said. “We’re pleased that our driver has stepped up to the plate to provide leadership for the future.”

Driver Lyndon Amick said he and the team are optimistic about 2001. “No question, 2000 has been a tough year for us,” Amick said. “Right now, we’re putting together a new strategy, a new structure and a new commitment to winning. I think we’ll look back at the 2000 season as a key to our success down the road.”
