Sam's Town 250 Jason Schuler Notes Jason Schuler / Visine Racing Track Notes for the Sam's Town 250 EVENT INFORMATION: Site - Memphis Motorsports Park, Memphis, Tennessee; Time and Date - 1 p.m. ET, Sunday, October 29; Live Coverage - TNN (cable television) and MRN (radio); Qualifying - 2:30 p.m. ET, Saturday, Oct. 28 CLEARED FOR FINALE: Jason Schuler takes his last spin of the season in the Visine Chevrolet this weekend. Schuler tested the .75-mile track in early October with the same car he raced to a 14th-place finish in July at Gateway International Raceway near St. Louis. In 10 starts he tied his best finish of 14th place at New Hampshire International Speedway and Gateway International Raceway. His most recent race was a 33rd-place finish in the Kroger 200 at Indianapolis Raceway Park on August 4. FAMILY TRADITION: Jason Schuler makes an appearance on Friday at the Pfizer Logistics Center in Memphis, Tenn. For the second consecutive year, employees will be able to get the autograph of a Pfizer-sponsored driver and have their pictures taken next to the car. Hut Stricklin started the tradition surrounding the Memphis race last year when he drove the Barbasol brand car for Pfizer. IN THE STANDINGS: The Visine Racing Team remains fifth in the owners standings. The No. 17 entry has 3,631 points and is 142 points from fourth place, 147 points from third place, 333 points from second place, and 869 behind first spot. JASON SCHULER ON HIS FINAL RACE OF THE SEASON: "The last time I raced was early August so I'm pretty anxious to drive again. The test went well, we did some qualifying runs and different race setups. I never really talked to Matt (Kenseth) about this track. We talked more in the beginning of the year about setups and handling, but he knows I've got to find my own approach to this place. They had a good run going here last year until they dropped a cylinder so we'll try to apply as much of that race information as we can. "Of course I wish I could race more this season, but overall I've had a good year learning the team, the tracks and the cars. I think we've been competitive in most of my races this year although our finishes don't reflect that. But that's part of learning the good and the bad at this level." RECAPPING LAST YEAR'S SAM'S TOWN 250 (October 31, 1999): It was the inaugural Busch Series event for Memphis Motorsports Park and Matt Kenseth made his mark by qualifying 10th for the 250-lap event. Kenseth was hoping to be the first to put his name on the winner's plaque and was well on his way when a broken motor part caused the No. 17 Chevrolet to lose a cylinder. The lapse in the motor forced Kenseth to run underpowered and put him 21st, one lap in arrears at the checkered flag. RECAPPING THE SAM'S CLUB 200 (October 21, 2000): Matt Kenseth finished seventh in the Sam's Club 200 at North Carolina Speedway in Rockingham, N.C. Kenseth brought the Visine Chevrolet down pit road for the first time at lap 29 for new tires and fuel. Still displeased with the handling of the car, Kenseth returned for his second stop at lap 80 and the team made rear tire pressure adjustments. The Visine Chevrolet entered the pits in fourth position but returned to the track in 10th place after trouble with the right front tire. Back on the track, Kenseth maneuvered to gain positions and worked his way into the top five by his third and final stop at lap 138. No adjustments were made, only fuel and four fresh tires were added to the Visine Chevrolet. It marked his 15th top-10 finish in the Visine Chevrolet, including four victories. SPONSOR NOTES: Partners on the Visine Chevrolet for the Sam's Town 250 are BenGay and Cortizone, products produced by Pfizer Warner-Lambert Consumer Healthcare.
