HotWheels.com 300 Matt Kenseth Notes Matt Kenseth / Visine Racing Track Notes for the HotWheels.com 300 EVENT INFORMATION: Site - Homestead-Miami Speedway, Homestead, Florida; Time and Date - 1:10 p.m. ET, Saturday, November 11; Live Coverage - NBC (network) and MRN (radio); Qualifying - 12:30 p.m. ET, Friday, Nov. 10. LAST CHANCE: Kenseth has one more shot to break his personal season win record in the Busch Series. In 1998 Kenseth earned three wins but topped that with four in 1999. He has matched that mark thus far in 2000, but hopes to break that with one more trip to victory lane at Homestead-Miami Speedway. BEST FOR LAST: Kenseth has piloted car No. 4 to two wins in only three appearances this season. The team elected not to run the Chevrolet at Phoenix International Raceway last weekend to prepare for 200 laps at Homestead-Miami Speedway. IN THE STANDINGS: The Visine Racing Team remains fifth in the owners' standings. The No. 17 entry has 3,893 points and is 115 points from fourth place, 142 points from third place, 336 points from second place, and 942 behind first spot. Kenseth is currently 17th in driver standings after 19 starts. MATT KENSETH COMMENTS ON THE RACE: "I always like the high-banked fast tracks and Homestead is really flat. I guess it appeals to me because it's still really fast and it's very mentally challenging. Last year we were caught in a bad wreck early in the race but otherwise we have a great setup for this place. I know there are going to be some guys that will be tough to beat but I hope I'm right there with them at the end." RECAPPING LAST YEAR'S HOTWHEELS.COM 300 (November 13, 1999): Matt Kenseth qualified his No. 17 Chevrolet in 17th place for the Busch Series season finale. However, Kenseth did not make any progress from his starting spot, as he was collected in a lap two accident, which involved a total of 11 cars. Kenseth completed 174 of 200 laps. RECAPPING THE OUTBACK STEAKHOUSE 200 (November 4, 2000): Only 10 minutes remained in the final practice session for the Busch Series last Friday when the Visine Chevrolet billowed smoke from the rear of the car as Matt Kenseth exited turn two. The problem was a broken drive shaft, which resulted in some major repairs before the race on Saturday. The Visine Racing Team changed the drive shaft, transmission, rear end gear, rear end pump, bell housing, fixed the truck arm mounts and patched any other areas that needed work. Kenseth moved his way into the top-10 pack of cars just 25 laps into the event. At lap 51 a caution flag fell, giving Kenseth an opportunity to get four fresh tires with pressure adjustments and fuel. The Visine Chevrolet remained in ninth place before the cycle of green flag pit stops began at lap 130. The Visine Chevrolet came in for service at lap 138 for four tires, fuel and a wedge adjustment. It was open racing for Kenseth, who gained three positions in the last quarter of the race to finish sixth.
