HotWheels.com 300 Jeff Purvis Notes The finish line is near for the 2000 NASCAR Busch Series. With one race to go, Porter-Cable Power Tools driver Jeff Purvis has set his focus on a top-ten finish in the season long point standings battle. Purvis currently stands in 12th position, just 2 points behind 11th place Kevin Grubb and 32 points behind 10th place Jimmy Johnson. After struggling through the first half of the racing season, a 10th place points finish would serve as a nice reward for Purvis and his Joe Gibbs owned racing team. The Clarksville, TN native enters the Miami 300 with two straight top-ten finishes. A third straight top-ten will go a long way towards giving Purvis a chance for the 10th place points finish. "We have our work cut out for us on Saturday as far as the points race," Purvis said. "The only thing we can do is run up front and let the cards fall where they may. We are going to Homestead with the intention of winning the race." The green flag will drop on the field of 43 cars Saturday afternoon at 1:10 EST. NBC and MRN will provide live coverage of the race. PIT NOTES Ø Jeff Purvis made his 150th career Busch Series start last Saturday at The Phoenix International Raceway. In those 150 starts, Purvis has won a total of $2,311,933 Ø With one more top-ten finish Purvis can match his career high of 12 top-ten finishes set last season. Among Busch Series regulars, Purvis is tied for 7th in the race for the most top-ten finishes.
