MBNA.com 200 Elton Sawyer Notes Elton Sawyer / Lysol Racing Pre-Race Notes for Dover RACE INFORMATION: NASCAR Busch Series MBNA.com 200, September 23, 2000; Dover Downs International Speedway, Dover, Del.; 1 p.m. ET, TNN (television), MRN (radio). SAWYER ON DOVER: "This is a track that we consistently run well at. I look forward to coming here and I like the track a lot. We are carrying the same car we ran here in the spring and are not making any big changes. We had a good car here in the spring, and I think we would have finished better but our car got very tight due to a problem with the track bar. Each week this Lysol team gives me well-prepared cars, and I am sure this weekend will be no exception. We have a lot of things going for us right now and the team is in good spirits. Each week we are knocking at the door for a win, and hopefully, we will be in contention for one this weekend." RECAP OF JUNE RACE: The Lysol Racing team started ninth and finished 10th in June's MBNA Platinum 200. Sawyer remained in the top 10 all day, but after his last pit stop, the car became tighter than it had been all day. After examining the car after the race, it was determined that the track bar had vibrated down. The further down it got, the tighter the car became. The ninth-place finish was Sawyer's fifth top-10 finish of the 2000 season. THE EQUIPMENT: The team will be carrying the same car to Dover that they ran at the track in June. The car also ran at Atlanta this season. SAWYER ON SOFT WALLS AT LOWE'S MOTOR SPEEDWAY: "As individuals and as a group, I think we needed to look at every aspect of our sport to make it safer. That includes our equipment, our cars and the tracks. Steps have already been taken with our cars and now Lowe's Motor Speedway has stepped up to the plate. I think that the walls at Charlotte are a step in the right direction. Hopefully, no one will have to test them out when we go there in a few weeks. THE POINTS RACE: Elton Sawyer moved into fifth place in the point standings after the race in Richmond. Sawyer is still attempting to reel in Todd Bodine (fourth), who is 235 points ahead of Sawyer.
