Schuler Hopes the Stars are in Line for Kroger 200

INDIANAPOLIS – If luck has anything to do with it, Jason Schuler hopes the constellations are in line for Friday night at Indianapolis Raceway Park. A student of the NASCAR Busch Series this season, Schuler has performed his best at tracks less than one-mile in length but has little to show for it.

Schuler’s frustration stems from excellent runs at tracks less than one mile that all ended prematurely. At his Busch Series debut at Nashville Speedway USA in Tennessee in April, Schuler was on a mission and in the top five when an accident on the frontstretch damaged his radiator and sent him home in 32nd-place. In June at South Boston Speedway in Virginia, Schuler broke into the top-10 pack and was collected in a turn two accident. The wounded Visine Chevrolet finished 38th. The very next week at Myrtle Beach Speedway in South Carolina, the Visine Chevrolet was in 12th place when the track bar broke and Schuler could only salvage a 32nd-place finish.

Friday night, Schuler hopes the tides turn in his favor for the Kroger 200. In preparation for the event, the Visine Racing Team tested the .686-mile track in July.

“The test went great, better than Nashville, and we ran really well in Nashville,” Schuler said. “Now we have to figure how to avoid trouble and keep the car in one piece all night.

“This is definitely my favorite car we are bringing to this track,” Schuler said. “It’s been worked on more than a few times after we had it at Nashville and South Boston. It’s disappointing to be in the top 10 or top five and in an instant it’s over.“

Time trials for the Kroger 200 begin August 4 at 4:30 p.m. ET. The green flag drops at 8:30 p.m. ET with coverage on ESPN and MRN.
