Purvis and Team Continue to Build Consistency

INDIANAPOLIS - Jeff Purvis and The Porter-Cable Racing Team head to The Indianapolis Raceway Park this Friday night looking to continue their recent string of top finishes. After two second place finishes in the last four races, Purvis believes his Joe Gibbs owned racing team is ready to take the final step into victory lane at the Kroger 200.

"I have always believed that a race team had to first become a consistent front runner before it could start to think about winning a race," Purvis said. "Now that we are running up front each week, I believe we can put the Porter-Cable Pontiac in victory lane real soon, hopefully Friday night."

Friday night will be a real possibility, Purvis has always run well on the .686 mile oval, recording a sixth place finish last year. Crew Chief Doug Richert will take the same car to Indianapolis that finished second last week at Gateway International Raceway. Over the last 25 laps of the race, Purvis was the fastest car on the track, cutting the lead of race winner Kevin Harvick from eight seconds to 1.338 seconds at the checkered flag.

"We were awesome all night, but there at the end, I couldn't believe how fast we were since we only took two tires during our final pit stop," Purvis said. "I wish there could have been a few more laps, but we will take the second place finish and hold our heads high."

Will Friday night be the night for Jeff Purvis and The Porter-Cable Racing Team? Tune in Friday night at 8:30pm ET on ESPN and Motor Racing Network for all the racing action.
