"It was just all about getting it hooked up off the corners today. It took me a couple of laps to get going. The track was hard to get a hold of. If you hit it right, you've got it. If you don't, too bad. The team did a good job today. They were able to get it hooked up to the race track, and we pulled off a pretty good lap qualifying.

"The last several times here I've looked forward to coming back. Martinsville has kind of eluded me throughout the years. If you can get hooked up here Sunday afternoon you can have a lot of fun. You can rub fenders and it won't be like Talladega. It's a fun race track.

"It would mean a lot (to win here Sunday), not only to me but to Ray and the race team itself. Now if you can come to a race track and be halfway competitive, that's a good afternoon. We had a problem the first race here this year. We had a brake problem. We fought that all day long. We had a pretty good car it felt like. Hopefully this time we'll have an equally good car and not have any problems.

"It's a little bit harder to put the power down off the corner. It's lost a little bit of grip there, but entering the center doesn't seem to be much different. Everybody's got to run through it. Right now, I don't see any safety issues whatsoever. We'll have to see how practice transpires tomorrow, but right now, I don't see any anything being a problem."
