my home track, and I am excited to have the opportunity to give something
back to them and the communities they live in."
McDonald's is hosting this special charity event in celebration of Elliott's
25th season in NASCAR racing. Elliott made his first NASCAR career start in
the Carolina 500 at North Carolina Speedway on February 29, 1976. He
qualified 34th in his powder blue Ford Gran Torino, finished 33rd, and went
home with a $640 check. Elliott will be driving a special edition red,
yellow and silver Ford Taurus displaying his 25th season logo at the Atlanta
race.
"McDonald's is proud to give back to the community with the McPit Stop
Challenge," said Georgina Roy, McDonald's motorsports manager. "As part of
Bill Elliott's 25th year in NASCAR racing, McDonald's is celebrating in
Bill's home state, where the legend began years ago."
