Pocono Raceway

More Bad Luck at Pocono, Elliott Finishes 32nd
"We were running good, but high gear came out of the transmission and I was having to run it in third," said Bill Elliott. "I don't know if the motor blew up or the transmission came out of it, but we were done when that happened anyway. I hate it for McDonald's and all the crowd, it just, man, we keep working and keep working, we're running so good, but we just can't make any headway in this business."

"I mean, I don't know what else you do. We work so hard and we've got such good cars, but we just can't make it happen."

Elliott now sits 19th in the Winston Cup point standings with 1932 points.

Pocono Qualifying Quotes
"That's three-quarters of a second faster than we ran here the last race, I mean I'm tickled to death," said Bill Elliott. "That just goes to show you that these guys keep plugging at it. We just keep learning things and doing things and I think the longer this group's together the better we'll be. I'm just tickled to death with the guys. We're making smart decisions and we're continuing to grow. For a team with as many new people as we've got from the first part of this season to now, we've accomplished a lot."

YOU NEED SOME GOOD LUCK NOW, RIGHT? "The last five or six races there's been something happen. I guess five weeks ago we broke a motor here and at Sonoma we broke a track bar mount and at Loudon two weeks ago we broke a valve spring in the motor pretty early there before the end of the race. It's just been kind of one of those years."

Pocono Notes
Elliott has been primarily racing four cars this season, but this week he's trying something a little different... this chassis was built last year, but has not raced so far in '00... the team normally names its cars, but this one has not developed a personality yet, according to team members, so it's still waiting.
