Green Finishes 36th at Bristol in McFlurry Taurus
"First of all, the car was really
good -- it was excellent," said David Green, substituting for an injured Bill Elliott. "A lot of things I was working with was stuff I
hadn't experienced in about a year, but everything was going fine.
"They had
that wreck up there, I guess somebody spun, and we all missed it and as I
came through it I noticed the yellow light wasn't on. The spotter said keep
going it's still green. I actually had passed Kyle and thought I had enough
momentum that when we got to the corner I was clear of him, so I came down
and he was there and we both met. It's one of them deals I guess, it's
Bristol.
"It's disappointing because from the time the car unloaded it was
fast. If Bill was in it, it would probably have been on the pole or
somewhere close to it, but I was trying to catch up with the car more than
the car was to me. I feel real bad. There's Bill sitting back hurt at home
and I'm sure he was excited to see how good his car was running because it
was a great car. It still is, it's just got minor damage back there but we
can't get back out to go finish."

Bristol Qualifying Quotes
"That's about what
we ran this morning, but everybody has picked up," said David Green, subbing for the injured Bill Elliott. "The car is turning really
good and it's fast. For qualifying though we needed to be a little tighter
and we were afraid of that."

Bristol Notes
Elliott suffered a fractured left kneecap earlier this week while doing some
work around the house and may not be able to race this weekend
Elliott
had surgery on the knee Tuesday night, so the team has asked David Green to
fill in
Elliott had tested for two days here after the race at Watkins
Glen with a brand new car
The only thing the team has done since the test
is give it a name -- "Ready Mix"
The name is in reference to the concrete
surface at Bristol
If it survives the weekend without major damage it will
likely run again at Dover -- the other concrete track on the
circuit
Elliott's previous concrete car -- named "Rock Crusher" -- was
lost in a practice accident at Dover in June after qualifying on the outside
pole
Elliott's car will be sporting a different paint scheme and referred
to as the McFlurry Taurus.
